– It started when we were looking for a house model that would satisfy all the demands we asked for, both to be able to blend into the environment and work out just right. Our guests value the wilderness and its adventures but want to live well at the same time, says Johan Väisänen, one of the owners of Explore the North

The company, located in the village of Kangos – 150 km north of the Polar Circle – offers wildlife adventures and offers both cottages, hotels and restaurants.

– We wanted to invest further on our concept, and after evaluating a number of suppliers with their alternative solutions on houses, we made our choice which fell on Jörnträhus.

– At the end of June we decided to build three semi-detached houses of the Strycksele model, a prefabricated blockhouse, where we made only minor adjustments from the original. Two weeks later, the rooms were pre-booked starting from 1st December. With such a tight schedule there are not many house suppliers that can deliver without compromises, Johan says.

Today the three houses are ready and in place. Guests during the month of December were the first to enjoy the special atmosphere offered in Särkimukka, whether inside or outside.

– The concept of complete building kits suited us perfectly because we and our local builders were able to focus on building quickly and efficiently, instead of constantly supplementing materials from the construction industry.

The prefabricated block houses have had an incomparable fit and our schedules have been kept, Johan says. With our planned expansion of 6-8 houses in the coming season, Jörnträhus is the natural choice.
