The Öberg family live on the coast, but spend every other weekend in Tänndalen, where their newly built Talltoppen holiday home is located.

In summer there is a lot of mountain biking and kayaking, while autumn offers good opportunities for bird hunting, usually with the dog Taco.

- In winter, the whole family goes cross-country skiing, slalom skiing and we enjoy going hiking," says Bjarne.

- We have always spent a lot of time in the mountains and realised at some point that it was time to create our own holiday home where both crockery and bedding were our own on each visit. Our two daughters in particular appreciate this," says Linda.

New and fresh

After a period of trying to find a suitable existing house for sale, they cancelled that project as they felt it was difficult to find exactly what they wanted. Instead, they decided to build a brand new and fresh holiday home from scratch.

- The fact that it was Jörnträhus was definitely not obvious from the beginning, we had two or three similar alternatives to consider, but due to the possibility of adjusting and influencing the design of the house and the ”gut feeling”, it all decided in favour of Jörnträhus.

- The feeling of living in a real log house is hard to beat, just knowing that it is solid pine timber that supports the entire construction is a little special and of course contributes to the genuine experience you get, not least in this surrounding environment.

The majority of requests

The pine top has been modified according to several wishes they had, including that it is slightly elevated and that they have got a spacious front room which is perfect when both outerwear and ski equipment always require large space for storage.

The ability to get drawing suggestions and variation possibilities presented quickly from Jörnträhus is probably what they have valued most during the process.

- Once you're in the mindset and come up with new ideas, it's reassuring to know that they'll be taken care of immediately," says Bjarne.

- Most of the holiday home was built and finished by local contractors, but we did the painting and wallpapering ourselves, which was both fun and saved a lot of money," says Linda.

Supplied complete

As the house kit is delivered complete, the building materials have been on site, making it easy for the builders to complete the house quickly.

- We spend a lot more time in the mountains now that we have our own personal holiday home, mainly during the autumn and winter months. In the summer, we still spend most of our time on the coast, which is probably more mosquito-related than housing-related," concludes Bjarne.
