Benjamin Leu is our new production manager at Jörnträhus. He has extensive experience in the wood industry in Switzerland, both as a production manager and carpenter.
- "I'm excited about a new challenge," says Benjamin.
Peter Gyllenberg, CEO of Jörnträhus, is very pleased with his new Swiss acquisition.
- "We were looking for a driven person with experience from leading positions in the manufacturing industry who can lead our daily production, Benjamin fulfils all our wishes and is also a lovely guy," says Peter.
Benjamin, tell us about your background, what did you do before joining Jörnträhus?
- I started working as a carpenter right after high school and have since had various roles in the wood industry for many years, including as a production manager. For a while I worked and studied in parallel, then I trained as a wood technician.
What attracted you to the job of Production Manager at Jörnträhus?
- I was tipped off about Jörnträhus by an acquaintance in Glommersträsk, where I now also live with my partner and our daughter. They work with something I've done before, I thought, and contacted them. I immediately got a good feeling for the company when I went there for a visit. It's an interesting business, building houses that are delivered both here in Sweden and to Iceland.
"Benjamin fulfils all our wishes and is also a great guy," says CEO Peter Gyllenberg.
What do you hope to bring to Jörnträhus?
- I have only been here for a few days and am now trying to get an overview of how everything works. When I get into it, I hope to contribute with my experience and knowledge from previous jobs. I know a lot about building houses in Switzerland, hopefully I can benefit from that in Sweden as well, although of course it will differ a bit.
You're from Switzerland, how did you end up in northern Sweden?
- I have been visiting a friend, who now lives in Lycksele, in northern Sweden every year since 2019. Both me and my partner are very happy up here and were looking for a new challenge, to live in a new country. We love the nature here, and we wanted to buy a house, which is very expensive in Switzerland. We also see the lower cost of living in Sweden as an advantage.
What do you like to do when you are not working?
- We have just had our first child, her name is Ida, so she occupies most of my free time now. Otherwise I like fishing, preferably perch and pike. For me, fishing is both a nature experience and relaxation. My partner likes hiking in the forest, sometimes we do it together, sometimes separately.
