CUSTOMER REPORT / FJÄLLBOHEDEN SEMI-DETACHED HOUSE
Mikael Svensson would like to pass on this advice to other buyers: don't be blinded by the offer, but really familiarise yourself with what you are getting.
- "We were initially shocked that the quote was half a million euros higher than from other holiday home suppliers. But what we got is so complete and solid and was not more expensive in the end, but rather cheaper," says Mikael, who built a Fjällboheden semi-detached house in Idre.
Mikael has known Jörnträhus since 1989 when his parents built their house, and even then the family was in the Jörnträhus catalogue. What decided the choice of house supplier again this time was a feeling of consistently high quality and the complete solution.
- The most enjoyable part of the whole building process was seeing the wall elements being erected and fitting together as well as they did. We were extremely impressed by how millimetre-perfect everything was, everything fitted together perfectly," says Mikael.

BUILT WITH HIS COLLEAGUE
When Mikael and his friend Kenneth heard about others who had built holiday homes in Idre, they were keen to build one themselves. They found two narrow plots of land next to each other, and the best solution was a semi-detached house that spanned two properties.
- We had an idea that it would be cost-effective to build a semi-detached house together. And it was. It was also great fun, we started assembling on a Tuesday and by 8pm on Thursday we had a full house. There were three of us erecting the house, the two of us and another friend who helped - and we're all still friends today," says Mikael, laughing.
SATISFIED TENANTS
Mikael and Kenneth wanted a traditional mountain house and agreed on what that meant and what style it should be. They decided in favour of Fjällboheden's semi-detached house with large glass windows that allow the landscape outside to take centre stage. They wanted the house to work both for themselves and for renting out.
- We wanted four bedrooms, two with double beds. A large hallway was important, which would accommodate ski boots and ski clothes for eight to ten people. We've had a lot of positive feedback from our tenants, who like the layout and that it's a solid house that's easy to live in," says Mikael.
"It was just as much fun as I hoped! Not nearly as hard as I feared."
QUICK AND EASY
- The process of choosing a house model with Jörnträhus was quick, we sent a request on a Sunday evening and we quickly received a response that they wanted to make suggestions and could make the adjustments we wanted. They were extremely quick and showed interest in our project. Before the week was over, we had a proposal with us that also became what we ran on then. It was actually the first proposal that became the final one, it was just a window that was removed, says Mikael.
Mikael says that they got a good impression of Jörnträhus right from the start and wants to send a message to everyone who is about to start building.
