Icelandic campsite chooses Jörnträhus

Strycksele semi-detached house 200HD without partition ver2

A Strycksele semi-detached house in a large block with a building area of 230 square metres has just been delivered to Iceland. The buyer is Ingibjörg Sigurðardóttir who, together with her colleague Audur Fridgerdur Halldórsdótti, runs a camping site and associated café business.

Ingibjörg chose a Jörnträhus mainly because she bought a timber-framed Jörnträhus back in 2001 and has always been extremely satisfied with it. The new semi-detached house will be used as a permanent residence.

The advantage of blockhouses is the fast assembly time, which appeals to buyers as the seasons can be fickle in the open landscape on which the house is placed. There has been close co-operation between Jörnträhus designers, the buyer's contractor and quality manager, to ensure not least wind loads and anchorages on this standard house.

The kit is being shipped by container by sea, which also poses additional requirements than normal, but everything has been solved very easily and the kit is on its way to Iceland.

Already now, Jörnträhus has received further interesting requests for house building kits for the neighbouring area, which feels very positive.

Like rings in the lava, Jörnträhus names are spreading across Iceland!
