- The fact that we chose to build our holiday home in Bruksvallarna was absolutely not planned, we had no thoughts of a holiday home at all," say Christian and Therése Lindblad.

- "When our friends asked us to come and ski in the Funäsfjällen mountains, it seemed a long way from the skiing in the Alps we usually enjoyed, but we tried it out and immediately fell in love with the area and its possibilities," continues Christian.

It's not just the skiing on the piste that appeals, in winter you can go hiking or snowmobiling, while in summer you can go hiking or mountain biking, in other words a good place for those who want an active outdoor life.

FANTASTIC LOCATION

Christian and Therése Lindblad were tipped off about a vacant plot in Bruksvallarna, visited the site and the deal was done within a week.

- It was a quick decision after we saw the plot and its fantastic location, definitely not a decision to think about for a long time," explains Therése.

However, there was no idea of which house to build, the first idea was a temporary house to be able to get started quickly as they could "feel out" what needs they had and not least perhaps save up for a larger new building.

The idea was rejected when they suddenly realised that this would delay the main building by a number of years - so they started looking for a suitable house model.

CLASSIC MOUNTAIN CABIN

We chose Jörnträhus because we were attracted by its appearance and the opportunity to influence the planning of the house.

- The fact that we also received an extremely professional and committed response from Jörnträhus representative Owe Korsgren made the choice easy, says Christian.

Strycksele was the model that caught our interest right away.

- "The Strycksele was the model that caught our eye straight away, and the fact that we then moved from the smaller to the larger model and finally settled on the largest variant with a loft was probably due to the possibility of a number of extra beds and two showers that could be offered to family and travelling friends," continues Christian.

- "We wanted a really classic mountain cabin, so we chose to equip our house with carved timber panelling and massive knots, but you can't see that this is basically a block-built house," explain the Lindblad couple.

To enhance the authentic feel, the carved timber panelling was also chosen for the inside of the house, which turned out to be a hit.

DONE A LOT THEMSELVES

- "We did a lot of the interior work ourselves, such as painting and glazing the rough timber panelling, which took time but which we now feel we are very good at," says Therése.

The house shines white and inviting where it stands on the mountainside - but the colour will change soon. The kits from the factory are delivered in white, but already in the spring the house will change to a black facade with white lining and associated details, in other words, the painting work is not quite finished for the Lindblad family.

Jörnträhus supplies complete building kits that also include kitchens and white goods. With a number of hand-picked subcontractors, a final product is guaranteed where the high quality level promised by the concept is also fulfilled.
