- "Many people have commented that our house feels so solid and that it gives a completely different feeling to many other holiday homes," says Johan Nyhammar, who is building a Skärudden with his family in Åsunden, Östergötland.
The site has a unique location, on a plateau on a hillside with a fantastic view of the lake, but which also placed demands on the design of the house. Johan and Katarina had made a list of requirements and their own wishes when they started looking for a house supplier.
- This particular design with angles suited the plot perfectly. Jörnträhus was also very quick to get back to us when we sent out our enquiry, which we appreciated. It was the first house to be built in this model, we had only seen the architect's proposal and there were many nice solutions. We adapted the kitchen and changed the window positions to get the view and space in the right direction," says Katarina.
"We wanted a Swedish house supplier and a house built from Swedish trees."
A REAL HOUSE
The couple did not have the opportunity to look at other Jörnträhuss before deciding on a house supplier and they left it to others to judge the quality of the options they chose between.
- It turned out well. It's hard to see the difference until the house is in place. We have received confirmation from several sources that it is a solid house with a high basic level. We looked at lots of houses before we decided and in the end it was between Jörnträhus and another supplier - we chose the Skärudden model from Jörnträhus.
SATISFIED WITH THE KITCHEN
It is the couple's first house and an important part of the overall solution was the kitchen from Electrolux.
- We hadn't realised beforehand how valuable the contact with Electrolux would be. The kitchen is a central but somewhat tricky room, they really took what we wanted and refined it based on their experience and expertise," says Johan.
"We didn't realise beforehand how valuable a holistic solution was."
ENERGY-SMART CHOICE
- We wanted a Swedish house supplier and a house built from Swedish trees. A house that is robust and sturdy that will serve as a holiday home with year-round standard. At the same time, it should last over time and be good from an energy perspective. This is where Jörnträhus differs a lot, it became clear compared to other holiday home suppliers who were often more simply built, says Katarina.
