Customer testimonial Björkdal L
For Joacim and Maria, the choice of log or block house was not of great importance when they started looking for a holiday home. However, they knew which model of house they wanted to build on their fantastic plot out in the sea, a Fura L, which was a log holiday home.
- "The model had pretty much everything we wanted, not least the loft where our two daughters could each have their own bedroom and we also saw room for a small 'family room' with the absolute best possible view for them," says Maria.
But then came the ideas of increased light in the living room and further maximised glazing on the gable, which suddenly put a spanner in the works.
A timber-framed house has certain structural limitations; if too much of the load-bearing walls are removed and replaced with very large glass sections, problems can arise.
Usually there are solutions, and so in this case.

A much more modern expression
Now the house was redesigned to adapt to large block construction, which solved the problem of the large window sections.
- We also got the floor plan we wanted for the loft, which was the part the daughters were the driving force behind because it was their part of the house," says Joacim.
With the addition of 300mm wide glulam panels on the outer facade and a more trendy roof from Plannja, the house now also had a much more modern look than the ordinary log house, which suited the family perfectly.
Fantastic location
The house construction is now in the final phase where the inside will be completed but already now you can feel the personality of the house which of course reflects Joacim and Maria's desire for a personalised house.
"It really feels like our own house," concludes Maria, "and the visitors we've had so far during the construction period also think we've made some smart adaptations that really enhance the house model as a whole.
The fact that the house, named Björkdal, also took its place as a standard model at Jörnträhus is a really good mark.
